How To Make Homemade Liquid Soap
homemade soap question?
I want to make a homemade bar of soap, that is clear and understand how to do that using a glycerine base. However, I don’t want to use animal products, so how do I get the liquid vegetable glycerine to get hard enough to make a bar of soap?
Liquid vegetable glycerin is only one of many ingredients used to make transparent soap bars or what are commonly called glycerin soaps.
The process actually begins much like cold process and hot process soap making. The traced soap is either left go through the gel phase or is cooked to force the gel phase. At this point alcohol and glycerin are added and the mixture is cooked. This can be dangerous due to the alcohol fumes that are created.
This description is very simplistic and is just to give you a general idea of the process. When I was making transparent soaps, I used Catherine Failor’s book “Transparent Soapmaking”. It is very detailed and gives wonderful step-by-step instructions as well a plenty of recipes to choose from.
